Plumbers: 0 | Spiders: 1

Ok... so the plumbers have finally gone after three days a-plumbing in our backyard.

Now it was mildly interesting having ones little cottage over-run with burly men in King-Gees (hey desperate times call for desperate entertainment measures... we're still TV-less!!)... apart from the fact that one was taking one's chances using the bathroom 'coz Murphy's Law made sure the plumbers always needed to 'check the plumbing' as soon as one was tending to one's own 'plumbing'!

It was however totally uneventful.... except for one small incident.

Now, regular listeners will remember reading about the Hills Hoist ursurpers (a.k.a. nasty, creepy spider-ette), in the previous post?

Turns out she had friends. A WHOLE LOTTA friends!!!. And while she herself had recently been evicted from her perch on account of our need to use the Hills Hoist that she'd basically strapped to the ground with her sparkly web... her friends... well, they weren't bothering me so I left them where they were.

I ask you. How was I to know that a: one of the plumber's apprentices was a closet arachnaphobe and b: that he'd decide to sit right under the fabulous web-tropolis her friends had made between the trees to eat his lunch on their final day here!

You can just imagine what was to follow.

First there was the stillness.. when you've realised your worst fear is right above your head...

Then came the whimpering and the pointing... when you really want your mummy to come rescue you from your worst fear that's right above your head!

This pointing didn't go unnoticed by his plumbing mates. Oh no. In fact, one plumbing mate helped out by saying 'man look at all those spiders' while another took a stick and threw it into the midst of the web-tropolis.. and, if anyone throws a stick into your house.. what do you do???

Damn right... you get down there as fast as your eight arachnid legs will carry you and kick some plumbers butt!!

So the score stands at Plumbers: 0 Spiders: 1. You see...after gabbering in tongues and dancing around the yard like a frilly girls blouse.. one young apprentice (who shall remain nameless due to possible embarrassment).. fainted dead away!

Suppose I could've really taken their parting comments two ways...

'Job's all done now. We won't ever have to come back here again!'
