Ode to the Shopping Trolley....

... or perhaps that should be WOE to the Shopping Trolley!

Today was grocery day... or, as affectionately labeled by a duck...Trolley Day!

Now normally most people schlump along.. up and down the aisles...trying to get what's usually a fairly boring task for most.. over and done with. Today however, they must have been pumping 'happy gas' through the vents of my local Coles Supermarket because there were some decidely weird goings on!

Firstly... there was the Indian Ringneck Parrot.. that had flown in from the Pet's Paradise across the way and decided that he wanted to live in the fresh fruit n veg section. Let's face it, if you were a parrot, where else would you want to set up house? Loo paper and tissues?? I think not!

Picture if you will, four or five lanky lads jumping up and down the shelves.. squishing tomatoes and slipping on banana's.... apples and oranges rolling in all directions... while they throw things at this beautiful bird who's screeching his head off in what could only have been parrot-ese for 'ner nerny ner ner'.

The amusement ended when tweety deftly caught a stick with a couple of grapes on it in his beaky beak and flew back out of Coles....swooping over Subway, causing a flock of 'sandwich artists' to dive protectively over the assorted sub fillings and then back into the pet store.... still screeching.. ner nerny ner ner!!

Now.. this would have been enough jocularity for one morning but noooo.

Next was the little boy.. about four or five.. who decided that his fairly frazzled looking young mother needed more frazzling and climbed into the freezer with the icecream.. closing the door behind him. I still can't figure out why BUT they couldn't open the door!!

There's frazzled mother alternating between shrieking at her son to get out of the freezer right now! and shrieking at those around her to get her son out of the freezer right now!!. Meanwhile, little Johnny Kafoops has opened a tub of icecream and is scooping it out and stuffing his wee mouth full.. not concerned a bit till he lent on the inside of the door, popping it open and he fell out. Then concern won out and it was his turn to shriek.

I tell you.....all this entertainment and I hadn't even bought a ticket :D It certainly relieved the ho-hum-humdrum of another Trolley Day!
